I recently made the leap from a permanent full-time gig to freelance, so I am now my own marketer. Gabrielle Weinman's book is a great read for novices who need a walk-through of the basics when it comes to design and self-marketing. Likewise, for the seasoned marketing professional, it's a good reminder for clients and agencies on how to efficiently and effectively communicate their respective needs. Though I've been in advertising for several years, I am now building my own brand and "DIY Brand Design" has not only been a fun and quick read, but has given me plenty of food for thought when it comes to my own logo, business cards and stationery design.
