Happy January? Not quite yet.

I seem to have been missing a lot lately - blogging, cooking, commenting on blogs. I've had a rough few weeks where I have eaten nothing more complicated than triscuits and liverwurst. I can't say that I'll be cooking at my regular intervals in the coming months while I sort through the personal junk, but cooking and baking are my "de-stressors". I have thought long and hard about this and last night I made a meal for some friends (ravioli with smoked salmon in a vodka cream sauce....too die for) and I realized how badly I need that outlet for my stress. I also realize how much I miss my blogging friends that I have made - if anyone wants to connect in a less "public" way my email is in my profile.

I will make an effort after budget meetings and audits are done to cook or bake at least one thing a week that is blog-worthy to share with you guys. Other than that my dear readers, you may be subjected to my rambling about current events or whatever else captures my imagaination.

  1. Hey, I speak fluent ramble and welcome someone who can speak in my native tongue.

When you are up for it, please post that lovely ravioli recipe. It does sound to die for.

You are missed as well here in our blogging universe. If I can get organized, someday soon, I will shoot you an email to say hi.

  2. Cathy, I appreciate your honesty and sincerity. The beginning of the year can be a frenzied time, and people quickly burn out with all of the challenges toss their way. I hope you are well and I can't wait to see more food posts!

  3. I am happy for the update and knew from your previous posting that we may not hear from you for awhile. Like you, cooking is my de-stressor. Hey, don't worry if it isn't 'blog worthy'! It is always blog worthy. We would love to see/hear about it.

  4. Hey, thanks for the update! I've been wondering how things are going for you. I hope life settles down and you can get back to more fun stuff! I am on a blog break now, too...I just needed some space. Ramble on as much as you want - I'll be reading! Take care!

  5. ramble away, destress away. I have the advantage of being a burden on society (retired). I would never have been able to devote as much time to blogging were i still in teh real world... Contribute when you can, visit when you can, cook to relax and enjoy and know that you are just a month or two away from motorcycle rides.

  6. Future - you got it - I may make that recipe again this week and I'll take a pic and get it up.

Fresh - January is always rough on accountants...that coupled with personal crap just makes for a lack of wanting to do anything food related.

All our Fingers - It's amazing what 30 minutes in the kitchen can do for your state of mind!

Wandering - I hope life settles down too - it is what I make of it I suppose :)

A year on the grill - I wish it was a month or 2 for biking up here - probably more like 3 or 4 months (we get snow up until the May long weekend). Loving the Julia Child post you put up - give me an omelette with goat cheese any day of the week.

  16. Looking forward to that ravioli recipe! Hope things settle down for you soon.

I find when I am busiest, that's when I want to chill out a few minutes in the morning and read a few blogs or even post, but I usually feel guilty posting when life is chaotic.

  17. gone, but not forgotten... hopefully you are getting your head clear (maybe a trip to a tropical island would help... We got a 2 bedroom Apt, so room for you to bike down =-)

AND, as you know, you are an award winning blogger on many levels. But today you are an award winning blogger from me. I have stopped sending these out as much, but I really thought this one was fun, and you should be able to have a good time with it... or just be honored that I thought of you...

Stop by and see what I am talking about

Shelley - I peruse the blogs, but just don't get around to posting or cooking to blog...hopefully that will change soon.

Thanks Debbie - I miss the cooking part (but loving how my pants are fitting).

  19. This is why I steered away from Accounting, even though I majored in Finance in university ... I cannot handle that year-end stress! Hang in there girlie, sanity will return soon enough.
