Don't get me wrong, I will still be out at the grill. Sub-zero weather and snow doesn't keep me from firing up the bbq and standing with mitts, toque and scarf. But, this....this burger was awesome. Amazing. Fabulous.......the best bloody burger this year. And the picture actually turned out great! That's a first for me. This made the zillions of other burgers this summer worth suffering through. And before you know it I will be back to blogging about regular fall/winter comfort foods. I have quite the list lined up to try (including an amazing looking pumpkin and crab risotto, braised short ribs and lots and lots of baking).
2 key ingredients here people.....my beloved goat cheese being first and foremost. I really should just buy a goat rather than continuously shelling out exorbitant amounts of money for small logs of goat cheese. I eat this stuff with a fork (much to everyone's chagrin).
The other ingredient...perfectly slow caramelized onions with a splash of bourbon thrown in.

Isn't that the most beautiful burger ever?? I mean, it almost was a shame to eat it.....almost. I was hungry dammit.

The burger was nothing more than meat, steak seasoning, green chilis and garlic. And it's sitting on top of homemade ranch dressing. Cheers and here's to fall!
The burger may be nothing more than what you mentioned but I think it sounds over the top wonderful, caramelized onions with shot of bourbon, Ill have to remember that.
ReplyDeleteThat is almost obscenely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteGoat cheese and caramelized onions sound delicious. And buying the goat seems like a sound economic investment! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThat is an absolutely stunning burger! Buying a goat is a great idea. Not only can you get goat milk, you won't need to mow your lawn! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou are right...that's one fine looking burger. Oh, you use a fork for goat cheese? I have my own little package that I just eat with my hands! No one else wants it anyway when I do that so I can keep two packages that way. Ours and mine!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic! Is there one for me?
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS BEAUTIFUL. Lots of goat cheese recipes floating around the web this week, and this is among the best. I will be making this soon
ReplyDeleteDonna - hola chickie! The bourbon gives the onions a wonderful flavour.
ReplyDeleteFuture - obscenely delicious too!
Taste - as long as we can justify it as a sound economic investment we are good.
Palidor - good point with the lawn....
Pierce - lol with your hands....awesome! I buy a goat cheese brie that is heavenly and I hide it in the back of the fridge so I don't have to share.
Natashya - get your butt on a plane to Calgary and yes there will be!
A year on the grill - love any recipe that calls for goat cheese....I'll have to start looking for more!
You just brought the art of the burger to a whole new level! This looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteKatherine - thank you :) That made my day.
