Moist and juicy thighs

Any takers with a post title like that?

I know deep down that chicken breasts are better for you nutritionally.....but the flavour of a grilled chicken thigh beats them hands down (or legs down).

I set about looking for some grilled thigh recipes last week. Now that bbq season is upon us I need to get as much bbq'ing in as humanly possible. It's not that we won't fire up the grill in the winter, but brushing off a foot of snow and trying to flip steaks with mittens is a pain in the ass.

This thai bbq chicken recipe could be done probably with any cut of chicken you have. All that was kicking around my freezer were some boneless, skinless thighs. I doubled the marinade for 9 thighs and tossed them into the fridge for 4 hours.

There is nothing better than a flavourful marinade and this one fit the bill. I'm guessing if I did some boneless pork loin chops in there it would be amazing!

The recipe also had a dipping sauce that I didn't bother to make this time.

These thighs were unbelievably moist, tender and flavourful. And better yet, they were fast! They got a thumbs up from Shawn - he polished off his dinner and packed the remaining 4 thighs for his lunch. I always knew he was a leg man ;)

You can find the recipe HERE.

  3. Love chicken thighs! I made them last week in fact, and was remarking on how much better they are than breasts.

  4. You know what we should do - we should get a bunch of foodies together and have a "most suggestive title" contest one day....

  6. Cathy, this reminds me of an article I read a while back, which got me into the thighs again.

Dark meat isn't bad, it's just not as low fat as chicken breast. I convinced a guy I was dating of this, and the next thing I knew, he had a freezer stocked full of deboned thighs!

  7. Van - Donna would win that hands down!

Taste - I've always preferred dark meat to white - everything in moderation is okay for you, so it amazes me how often people freak out when you cook with thighs.

  8. Wow those thighs look great. I prefer dark meat myself. Boneless skinless breasts also works. Easy to please here.
