Let me dip that for you

After all that mexican food you need a nice light dessert - chocolate on it's own would be just too heavy.

But chocolate fondue....oh man....I looooooooooooooove chocolate fondue.

The recipe at the end of this post is by far my favourite. I'm not sure if it's the addition of the caramel sauce that does it, or that I use whipping cream instead of milk or regular cream, but it's pure heaven.

But what to dip in it?

Always, always use fresh strawberries. And banana dipped in chocolate is great too.
For those with a sweeter tooth - cut up angel food cake. Really it's only as limited as your imagination.

And of course....my favourite...pineapple. It's the best when drenched in warm, gooey chocolate caramel sauce!

Recipe here.

  1. Oh, YUM! I love pineapple dipped in chocolate! I have one of those mini crock pots for hot dips; I really should get it out sometime...

  2. Oooooo...... that looks great! Now, here is something I need to know. I have a Crockpot that I use for slow cooking, can I use it in for fondue OR is the minicrock specifically for this?

  3. I don't know if a crockpot has a low enough setting Van - you don't want it to cook, just to keep in warm and liquidy.

Wandering - I could live on pineapple. I'm not much for sweets, but every now and then pineapple and chocolate together satisfies that craving.

  4. To answer Van's question, I've tried fondue in a crockpot and what happens is the moisture comes up on the lid, drips back into the chocolate and causes it to seize. Then you end up with thick, grainy (but still tasty) chocolate pudding instead of fondue.
